Zoo Lights 2012
After a strange day of napping and shopping (BLACK FRIDAY!), Matthew, Whitney and I braved the crisp Chicago weather at the Lincoln Park Zoo “Flipping the Switch” ceremony. AKA-The opening of the Zoo Lights! (WARNING: Picture-heavy!)
There were bonfires, popcorn, face-painting and ComEd and Charter One characters walking around.
Our view of the ceremony wasn’t the best, but it was still enjoyable watching the zoo LIGHT UP!
Whitney and I made reindeer antlers for ourselves and our significant others 😄
It was got SUPER DARK quickly and SUPER COLD too! This year there was no free hot cider/chocolate to warm us up 😦
I think we take a photo with this light-up reindeer every year 😛
We retreated indoors at the Park Place Cafe for some chicken tenders and fries. Luckily the table next to the reindeer was free~~
Whitney is so mean. She took this photo of me that “looks like American Horror Story” (her exact words!). CLEARLY, I was not ready!
We took lots of photos with our reindeer buddies and were tempted to decorate gingerbread cookies with the kids.
The joyful Whitney. She has almost mastered her braces smile~
Lincoln Park Zoo recently had two new baby gorillas and we were able to see one sleeping with her mommy 🙂
Only the first 1,000 guests each day get the special viewing glasses! Last year the glasses showed all the lights as SNOWFLAKES! This year the lights appear as two elves. (NOT the two below)
So many mittens get lost this time of year. Make sure you keep yours on–it gets really COLD outside!
RUDOLPH THE RED NOSED REINDEER! Puahahaha~
Here is Rudolph and
his her friend.
I hope you are able to make it to the Zoo Lights this year! It is magical no matter your age 🙂
